Banking/Commercial


The firm regularly represents financial institutions in connection with their transactional and litigation needs.  Our attorneys are experienced in handling loan documentation and workouts as well as complex lender liability issues.  We also have experience representing creditors in all aspects of bankruptcy and insolvency proceedings.

Estate Planning/Probate


The firm handles probate and simple and complex estate planning for its clients. Areas of particular expertise include the use of revocable trusts, by-pass trusts, QTIP trusts, pour-over wills, and durable powers of attorney for health care and property management.

Real Estate


The firm represents owners, developers, brokers, landlords, tenants and contractors in connection with the sale, leasing and development of real property.  We have experience in large commercial sale transactions, lease negotiations and documentation, development and land use issues and real estate financing.

Media Law


The firm has developed unique expertise in representing media clients.  We have defended defamation and invasion of privacy lawsuits as well as counseled media clients regarding prepublication review of stories.  The firm regularly represents broadcast media before state and federal courts on issues of press access, the reporter's privilege and responding to subpoena requests.
   

Community Service


Johanson & Associates is committed to serving the community through volunteer work and legal support.  Members of the firm have served on several non-profit boards including Juvenile Diabetes Foundation, Safe Streets, and American River College Advisory Board-Legal Assisting Program.  Our attorneys also serve as judge pro tem for the Sacramento County Superior Courts.
